Videte Dolorum on Flickr.
This is one of fourteen wooden reliefs of the mysteries of the Rosary in the little side chapel at my parish. They’re each about a foot in diameter, and I don’t remember how old they are… but pretty old. They’re absolutely stunning too.

Regina in Coelum Assumpta on Flickr.“Almighty everlasting God, who hast taken body and soul into heaven the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of Thy Son: grant, we beseech Thee, that by steadfastly keeping heaven as our goal we may be counted worthy to join her in glory. Through the same Christ our Lord who livest and reignest forever and ever. Amen.”

Noble is the work, but the work which shines here so nobly should lighten the hearts so that, through true lights they can reach the one true light, where Christ is the true door: the dull spirit rises up through the material to the truth, and although he was cast down before, he arises anew when he has seen this light.

The inscription Abbot Suger placed on the west facade of the Abbey Church of St. Denis, the origin of the Gothic movement.
